Perry Clark was invited to address one of the
largest Democratic clubs in Louisville, KY, on Tuesday by the
club president, John Miller. LaRouche organizer Carol X. and
other supporters report from the meeting that Perry stunned the
audience with a passionate presentation on why he was calling for
Obama's removal from office and backing LaRouche's proposals. His
presentation took the form: "If you knew at the time that Obama
was going to move to destroy Social Security, would you have
voted for him? (then replace "destroy Social Security" with "wage
colonial wars," and Obama's other crimes), while fully explaining
the Glass-Steagall process to save the nation and the world. The
audience was in full accord.
The Kentucky State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach, who is running
for reelection, asked Perry why everyone campaigns against
something, rather than FOR something like Glass-Steagall, as
Perry does. A real estate agent tried to "share the blame" with
those who took out risky mortgages which they couldn't pay, but
Perry cut him off and briefed people on the crimes of the banks
in coercing people to take these sub-prime mortgages so they
could securitize them and pass the losses on to others. The new
head of the district's Democratic Party was there and had a long
talk with Carol.
The next night the organizing team went to the meeting of
the largest Democratic club in the city, where Rep. John Yarmuth
was speaking. After a boring speech, Yarmuth was asked about
Glass- Steagall by the moderator after about seven written
questions had asked the same question. Yarmuth was visibly
uncomfortable, and barely able to explain Glass-Steagall to the
audience, then weakly said he's support it "if it got out of
committee." Several organizers then broke protocol and shouted
out for him to stop being a wimp, support it now, be on the right
side of history, and won the backing of many in the audience.
The newly elected head of this Club then engaged in a long
discussion with Carol and John Miller, reaching the conclusion
that the two clubs had to work together to restore the FDR
tradition.
Carol and her team have compiled a literature package of all
Lyn's major initiatives over the past 10 years, showing how Perry
Clark has supported them all consistently. This served to counter
some who were accusing Perry of "jumping on the LaRouche
bandwagon!"
